Simple yet Chic Feat. Prema Patil
In a perfect world, I would have the idea for a post conceived well in advance, would have discussed it with the husband, who also happens to be the one behind the lens, would have briefed the girl/s who would be featured on the post about the details of the look and on the day of the shoot, my focus would just be on doing the Makeup. But it’s not always a perfect world, is it? Pramod is traveling on work for a couple of weeks and I’m stuck here, waiting for my passport to arrive. On the eve of his travel he gave me a crash course on product photography, so that i am independent to shoot my Insta/FB feeds. Truth be said, I have never used anything other than my iPhone camera. As much as it was petrifying to use his professional camera and equipment, I am getting more and more comfortable with every passing shot.
Anyways, we had a shoot planned for Tuesday, a festive themed one in which I was planning to share tips on how, by choosing the right make up products, you can be ready in a jiffy this festive season. But when I got a call from Panna (you know her already, the one behind the gorgeous hairdos) on Monday night saying that the photographer wouldn’t be able to make it, it was such a bummer. But we are not the ones to give up. Panna was determined that we are going to make the shoot happen and although hearing that was a relief, I was only wondering how.
On Tuesday morning, Panna arrived as planned and she had this gorgeous girl along with her. Prema who is featured on the post is Panna’s friend from Dubai who is also trained in Makeup artistry. She is in Bangalore for a bit and is just accompanying Panna on her assignments to assist her and build her own experience. They had barely walked in, when I asked Prema if she would like to be featured on the blog. She was such a sport and instantly we were brainstorming ideas for the shoot. The look that we finally decided on was something very simple yet chic; wearable for a brunch, for a lunch date or just for a stroll in the mall. It is a day look, with minimal products – subtle shimmery cheeks and brownish pink lips. It was the first time that Prema was wearing a half-up top knot and Oh boy, isn't it flattering on her!
While I did makeup, Panna styled Prema's hair; while the girls scouted for favourable lighting, I tried my hands in photography. And over lunch, we spoke about makeup, skin concerns, our preferred brands, travel and much more. It was indeed a day well spent with great company.
It is not women’s day, not friendship day and this post is not a makeup tutorial. What I wanted to share though is the force that I experienced yesterday, the strength that I felt with these two women beside me, two of my kind who weren’t ready to let me give up.

Panna and Prema are just two in my tribe, there are many more – my sisters, my mothers, my best friend, my namesake friend who is also my most honest critic, my girls and a bunch of women that I have never met, but who vouch for me and what I do. You know who you are. Thank you for being you and being right by my side in my journey.
