How you doing BROW?
If I were to write notes to my younger self, this is something which would be written in EXTRA BOLD – DO NOT FALL FOR THE 90’s FAD, KID - DO NOT OVER PLUCK THOSE BROWS! How I wish I had the wisdom back then to listen to my mom when she told me not to pluck them so thin. Fast forward to 2016; thank God that we have bid farewell to the tweeze and thread fest of the 90s. Getting my eyebrows back to its full body seems like a distant dream now, but with the beauty industry dishing out products that are exclusively meant for grooming your brows, there is certainly hope.
In today' post, I am sharing with you some beauty hacks and brow grooming products for those perfect pair of eyebrows.
Shape
Just like how a great frame can enhance the beauty of a painting, a good pair of brows can beautifully frame your eyes and face. Finding your ideal shape is key. There are a few rules when it comes to the brow length and having the arch at the right place. If you were to hold a thin pencil up from the outer bridge of your nose towards the inner corner of your eye, where it meets your brow should be where your brow starts. When you hold the pencil at an angle from the outer bridge of the nose diagonally past the pupil of your eye, the arch should be where your pencil touches the brow. And when you hold the pencil at an angle to reach the outer corner of your eye, the place where the pencil touches the brow is where your brow should end.
If you can seek the help of a professional to do the initial grooming, the upkeep can be done at home with a good pair of tweezers. While tweezing, stick to just under your brows unless you really have to do some correction above.
When it comes to brows, symmetry is simply overrated. Your eyes are not identical. Your brows are not meant to be. Always remember that eyebrows are sisters, not twins :-)
Brow grooming products
To step up your brow game, you need to be equipped with the right set of tools. Your brow grooming kit should contain
- Tweezers to pluck out extra hair
- Baby Scissors for trimming unruly and extra-long hair
- Brow brush or Spoolie to brush your brows into place and soften any harsh lines from the pencil. Many of the good pencils come with a built in spoolie.
- Brow Pencil to define your brows and to give you the precision to draw light strokes at sparse corners
- Brow shadow or powder which is easy to use and weightless to fill in sparse areas and make your brows look natural
- Brow Gel for a lasting hold
Tint
Ok, so we have made a few brow bloopers and we are still reeling under the effect. But these days with most Beauty brands devoting a separate line of products just for the brows, our brows have hope. Finding the right shade of pencil or powder to fill in the sparse area is key. You never want to match your hair exactly. Instead if your hair is light, your brows should be one to two shades darker. If your hair is dark, go one to two shade lighter. If your hair is black, try using a very dark gray or brown than jet black. While filling your brows do not use the same shade with the same intensity from end to end. Eyebrows in their natural state are lighter at the inner corner (hair is sparse at the start) and get darker towards the tail end. So your Makeup should also reflect the natural look. Apply lesser product at the inner corner, going more intense to the tail end or simply use two shades - a lighter shade for the inside, and a darker one towards the tail end. Most eyebrow palettes come as a duo with a darker and brighter shade.

I was never a girl who bothered much about my brows. But once I noticed the difference fuller and defined brows made to my face, I am all in to spare a few minutes to groom my brows. Try it out girls, we are not Brow Blessed like Cara Delevingne, but we don't settle - do we?
