Do the Dewy!
Dewy skin = Fresh face = Every girlβs dream. Dewy, when done right can take years off your face and thatβs what makes it fitting for any occasion, from everyday makeup to weddings and other special events. Achieving this look is a lot easier when we have good skin to begin with. Breakouts, scars require a lot of products to cover up, whereas with flawless skin, you just need minimal products to go from good to great. And as I always say, good skin comes from a nutritious diet, staying hydrated, exfoliating and moisturising. So ladies, let's up our game and look after our skin well, eh! Once we have perfect skin as the canvas, we just need a few of these Makeup essentials to score that glow.
Foundation
For a fresh glow, what we need is radiant skin. The foundation should leave a dewy finish as against matte and hence we keep the use of powder to bare minimum. I used Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Cream as a moisturizer and primer. It is perfect as a primer, my makeup didnβt move through the day and the bonus is that it is highly moisturizing. If you have oily skin, use an Oil Controlling Primer to prep the skin before using the foundation to reduce the shine. I used the Bobbi Brown Long Wear Even Finish Foundation, a liquid formula which gives good coverage. Now, to my foolproof trick for the dewy look - I mixed a few drops of Farsali 24k Rose Gold Elixir with the foundation and used a Beauty Blender to apply the foundation all over the face. The elixir is essentially a moisturizing face oil which has a huge fan following worldwide and you would know why, once you use it. It is incredibly light and non greasy. You may apply 1-2 drops of Farsali face oil over the foundation using a beauty blender if you need more of that glow. I have used setting powder only under my eyes to set the corrector and concealer. For the rest of the face, you may use a setting spray instead of powder to ensure that your makeup lasts through the day.
Highlight/Contour
So for this look, I have gone much stronger on contour and highlight. I used βAlmondβ from Bobbi Brown a shade three times darker than my foundation. The best way to get the right placement is to suck your cheeks in and place the contour shade in the hollows hence created. Blend the shade into the foundation using a Beauty Blender to avoid any noticeable transition of shades. I also used the same shade on either sides of the nose to slim and sculpt the bridge of the nose. If you want to define your jawline, you could contour it too. Use the shade along the jawline and make sure that you blend well. βIncandescentβ from Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette is used to highlight the cheekbones and bridge of the nose. The easiest way to figure out the placement is to trace the bone from the outer corner of the eye, from the brow bone to the side of the nose. Think of it as a semicircle or a 'C' from the brow bone to the cheekbones. 'Incandescent is perfect for illuminating the skin and giving a natural luminosity without an overdose of shine and shimmer.
Bronzer
Bronzer is what which gives a natural sun kissed look to the skin tone. It just amps up the glow. And if there is one Bronzer that I highly recommend to add to your kit, it is the Shimmer Brick Compact β Bronze from Bobbi Brown. You wonβt regret buying this, ever. I have skipped Blush for this look and just applied the Bronzer on my cheekbones for that fresh and youthful glow. Use a bronzer brush for even application of color.
Eyeshadow
For this look, my personal favorites are shades of gold or bronze. I used 2 metallic shades of gold on my lids, the brighter shade in the inner half and the slightly muted tone on the outer half. Also, used an Orange Bronze shade in the crease area, all from Ted Baker Eyeshadow trio palette.
Lipstick
For a dewy look, I prefer neutral or subtle colors for my lips and a finish that complements the freshness on the rest of the face. I have gone for a liquid lipstick, Double Dare from Kat Von Dee just because I am in awe of this color and how it suits my olive complexion. It is a deep mauve with a subtle hint of coral. Since the liquid lipstick dries up instantly and has a matte finish, I used Lip Glass from Mac to create a glossy finish. Alternatively, you could go for a shimmery moisturizing lipstick too.
I love how the look has turned out. And I love it more that it survived the whole day with me. I hope that I have made it simple enough for you all to recreate. In case you need any further details, you know what to do :-). If there is anything that you would like to see a post on, be it product reviews, makeup looks or skincare regime, let me know. I would love to know where the interest lies.
Happy September ladies! Yay,it's my favourite month of the year xx
