Xmas inspired!
Where do you seek inspiration for your makeup from? Fashion runways, Beauty magazines, People-watching? The other day one of my friends had posted a picture of a pickled guava in a beautiful frozen raspberry shade and a friend of hers commented that she would like to own a lipstick in that color. Food - yet another source. Inspiration! – it’s all around us. And that should be enough reason to break the monotony in makeup and start experimenting with new looks. It was the beautiful baubles on my Xmas tree that inspired me to try a few new looks this Xmas. Red, Green and Gold are colors that are traditionally associated with Xmas. And I am featuring these in my makeup on the post today. It is different, yet wearable. It is quirky, yet easy. Read on to draw inspiration from and tweak it to your liking :-)
Green and Copper eyes
Just a few weeks ago, I had come across a picture posted by Elton J Fernandez, celebrity Makeup artist. The model’s face was flawless, her lips in a shade of nude brown and the eye makeup was a gorgeous combination of copper and green. The first look at it and I wanted to recreate it; use the same shades but make it wearable, (not that his was not) but may be make it just more 'me'. I used shades Sandalwood (an earthy deep tan) as base shadow all over my lids, Henna (a warm reddish brown) on the crease and Trust Fund (a ritzy copper metal eye shadow) in the center of my lids for that pop of copper, all from Huda Beauty Textured Shadows Palette. And to complete the look, I used Maybelline Master Drama Khol Liner in Couture Green to line my lower lash line and smudged it out. By saying no to our dear black kohl pencil, we have now introduced a streak of that festive green to our look. Finish off your eyes with oodles of mascara :-)
Deep Red lips with Shimmery Gold eyes
What’s Xmas without Red and Gold? This year, the theme for our Xmas tree were just these two colors. Looking at those rich red and shimmery gold baubles was just enough inspiration. If you are sporting a bold color on your lips, make sure that your skin is flawless and your eye makeup is subtle with just a pop of shimmer like in the look that I am sporting. I am wearing Fiery by Stila which is now not just my favorite shade of red, but that of friends and family. It’s deep red, suits cool and warm complexions and a little birdie told me that it’s now available in Sephora in Forum mall, Kormangala. For that pop of gold on my lids, I applied Bobbi Brown cream shadow in 24 Karat all over my lids and dusted a bit of ‘Half Baked’ from Naked palette over it.
Berry lips and Winged liner
Tis the season to be Berry lipped! And why not? Sipping a glass of spiced Xmas sangria with those berried lips is an indulgence in itself! And it gets more exciting when that shade of berry didn’t appear from the twist of a lipstick but you carefully created it by layering a coat of ‘Red’ lipstick by Bobbi Brown over perfectly filled in lips by Bobbi Brown’s lip pencil in Sangria. Wing your eyeliner and give your lashes some great company with your favorite pair of falsies and there you go! We have yet another festive look.

With just 4 days to Xmas, the excitement is building. There is so much festivity in the air. The last few days have been made all the more special with gingerbread cookies, chocolate fudge and other home baked goodies from friends and family. There is so much that I love about this season. And it's another beautiful gone by which featured several new beginnings for me. Can't wait to see what 2017 has in store for ShimmerMe and me. See you on the other side peeps :-)
Wishing you a Merry Xmas and an exciting 2017. Lots of love..xoxo..
