The Bride-to-be
The glorious days. From the time you announce the date to the one you walk down the aisle. The days when the spotlight follows you incessantly. The days when you have an innate glow that lights up your face. Those magnificent days of you being the bride-to-be.
Now, that’s how it should be. Don't you think? A quick reality check, and there are one too many things standing in your way of that ideal lead up to your special day. The stress of scouting for a fitting venue, curating the quintessential trousseau, planning the perfect looks for your wedding and festivities. I truly believe that it’s as easy or as difficult as you want it to be, as merry or as stressful as you make it. I’m not the one to find you the right solutions for all your wedding woes, but I could just ease the pain by helping you with a few tips on how to look refreshing as a new Bride-to-be.
Experiment
The months leading up to the wedding present you with oodles of opportunities to experiment with different styles of outfits in varying fabric, cuts and colours. It's also the time to try out different styles of makeup and hairdo. So, when you have a friend’s wedding or a family gathering or a casual brunch, seize the opportunity to wear a new look. Do your own assessment. Keep your ears open for compliments and criticism. With every new look that you wear, you will be inching closer to what is it that you want/not want for your big day.
Keep it Fresh
Radiant, beaming, glowing is what every bride-to-be would aspire to be. And it’s not something that she wants just for her big day. The key to looking fresh all through is finding shades that lift your complexion than pull it down. Understanding your natural colouring and echoing it with colours you wear is important, be it with your outfits or with your makeup. Outfits in dreamy pastels (read) periwinkle, mint, lilac, peach or vibrant brights like tangerine, marigold, lime enhance Indian complexion during the day. Deeper, richer hues like emerald green, aubergine are amazing options for the night. When it comes to makeup, cream blush in peach, soft pink, coral adds a pretty flush of colour to your face during the day. Illuminating bronzers add natural warmth and radiance to the face and are ideal for night.
What we have put together for Varshah is a good example of how to look effortlessly fresh. The softness of mint is beautifully contasted with the brightness of pink coral on the lips. The addition of soft shimmery pink on her lids and pale pink on her cheeks further enrich the radiance on her face.
Keep it You
This is paramount for young Brides-to-be. Be conscious of trends. Experiment with everything, but stay true to your natural self. Choose silhouettes that flatter your frame, opt for makeup that accentuate your features. There is one thing which my amma keeps saying every now and then about girls and makeup. There are girls whose beauty is further enhanced by makeup and then there are those who look gorgeous with very minimal corrections. I guess this is so important for young girls to understand, discover which category do they belong to and wear makeup accordingly. It's also great to think outside the box and wear looks that are completely your own than follow suit. Also, don't get caught up in other people's expectations. The looks that you wear should be a reflection of you.
Keep it Simple
When simple minimalist style is done right, it can make more of an impact than even the most expensive of labels. Not saying that ornate is not a choice, just don't go overboard. If your jewellery is rather elaborate, keep your outfit minimal and vice versa. On Varshah, the pearl kundan studs and pearl embellished bracelet are beautifully paired with the organza georgette saree to create an elegant, timeless look. Flawless skin and shades of pink incorporated in the makeup creates a stunning contrast, still keeping the entire look very graceful.
