Give your classic liner a graphic twist! Feat. Roshni Thomas
Graphic eyeliner. Tried that before? I’m thinking you may have at least seen it on fashion runways, editorial shoots and may be on your peppy friend who gives every makeup trend a go. It’s a versatile trend that welcomes individual twists and is a must-try for anyone who is bored of the classic eyeliner look. The graphic liner looks conceived by fashion houses may be highly dramatic for your daily style, but the possibilities are limitless and you can create one that agrees with the shape of your eyes and your personal style. On Rosh today, I have gone for a simple and wearable graphic liner which also lifted her eyes.
How to recreate the look
1. The focus for the look is on the liner and hence I used an eye shadow which is subtle on the lids and a neutral matte shade on the crease. On the lids, I applied ‘Combust’, a soft pink taupe shade from Naked Smoky palette and on the crease, I used ‘Buck’, a deer brown matte shade from Naked Original palette.
2. Leaving a wee bit of the outer corner of the upper lash line bare, I used Bobbi Brown’s gel liner and an angled brush to create a sharp angled line, parallel to the lower lash line. I then continued with the liner, reducing the thickness towards the inner corner of the eye.
3. With the help of a cotton bud dipped in a water based makeup remover, I cleaned out the tiny irregularities in the edges and went over the gel liner with a liquid liner. This gives the eye liner a very clean finish.
4. I applied the shade ‘Buck’ under the lower lash line to subtly balance the strength of the upper lid.
5. Mascara is an absolute must for lash definition. I applied lots of Smoky Eye Mascara from Makeup Forever to complete the eye makeup. You could use falsies too if you like.
Graphic liner looks are quirky and at its true best can be totally eccentric. The key is to play with geometric shapes and clean lines, like a triangular edge that we have on today’s look. And such clean lines also give you the choice to opt for rich bold lips that you can pair with for an evening look or bright pops of color or earthy nudes that you can wear for a spunky day look.
So get creative girls, you could play with liners in peppy colors, go overboard and dramatic with shapes or figure out wearable daily looks like this one.
