Celebrating 5000 followers and a decade long friendship
5000 followers! The joy of seeing ShimmerMe followers touch a 100, a 500, a 1000 is quite fresh in my memory. And when it reached 5000, it was delightful. What made it special for me is realising that there are 5000 individuals out there who are inspired in one way or the other from what I share; be it Beauty, Fashion, Fitness, Entrepreneurship, Styling or Motherhood. Looking back at the contest, I am so glad that I planned a shoot, which gave me the opportunity to meet with 3 lovely followers; 3 young women who are confident, talented, ambitious and sharing a decade long friendship.
My initial conversations with the girls gave me a sense of how much they value their friendship, a bond that has grown stronger since their college days. And that bond became the inspiration for this shoot. I wanted them to be captured as they are; their real selves; how they would go about if they were to spend a day together.
White and denim have always been a personal favourite in my wardrobe and seemed the perfect choice to me for its simplicity and versatility. And when the girls seconded that thought, I didn’t have to think any further :-)
What really stood out for me was the ease with which each one of them faced the camera. Their enthusiasm in winning the contest and being a part of this shoot shone through and the whole experience of putting this together is something that I’ll always cherish.
Meeting up with Geethu, Hitha and Reemy was truly rewarding for me. It helped me gain insights about three followers of ShimmerMe; why and how they started following my work; similarities and differences in their thoughts, their preferences. The ease of interaction with them, the natural flow of conversations (the day of shoot being the day of our first meeting) also made me realise how social media does an incredibly great job of bringing people closer.
Girls, it was amazing spending a day with you and styling this shoot. Thank you for participating in the contest and being a part of my journey.
